Dr. Karen P Anderson OD
Dr. Karen Paulus Anderson was born and raised in Clear Lake, Iowa. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1987, after which she received an Associate in Arts & Science degree from North Iowa Area Community College at Mason City, Iowa. Dr. Anderson received the Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1991, and in 1995 received the Doctor of Optometry from the Birmingham Optometry School, also at the University of Alabama. Dr. Anderson did an independent study at the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. She has been published in the May 1996 Volume 67 Journal of American Optometric Association for her study in ” Ocular abnormalities in congenital cytomegalovirus infection.”
Dr. Anderson is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Iowa Optometric Association, the American Foundation for Vision Awareness, and is a clinical examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. Dr. Anderson specializes in pediatrics, contact lenses, and treatment and management of ocular disease, but she enjoys the diversity of her primary eye care family practice.
She has returned to her home town and has been in private practice since 1995. She is a member of the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the Clear Lake Lions’ pride Lion’s club & enjoys volunteering for various local activities. Shelly Wander began working with Clear Lake Optometry in May of 2005. She is a graduate from North Iowa Area Community College with a degree as a Medical Office Specialist. Shelly specializes in the front office with administrative, insurance and reception detail. Contact her with any questions regarding billing, scheduling and insurance.
Shelly is a Mason City native & enjoys her home in Clear Lake with her husband Allen, & her children Robert & Brandi. She also has two step-children, Ashley & Adam, and grandchildren, Nolan, Swayze & Bella of Mason City. She is an active member in her local church, with a role in the Ministry of Music.
